Komlan Aditi Assignon has over 12 years of experience in event planning, customer service, and wedding business. Through the years he has worked in the music and entertainment aspects of the wedding industry all around Madison and all over Wisconsin. Komlan earned his Bachelor’s degree at the University of Wisconsin – Madison. He double majored in International Politics & Economics, and French. Komlan was originally born in Togo and was raised by the values of a French culture. Prior to moving to the United States for higher education, he was raised in a country where French is the first language. He also lived in France for a short time before setting his eyes on the United States of America. Komlan learned through his parents (Kodjo and Tele) that higher education is the key to success in any culture. This was the main reason that pushed him to finish his high school education and go on to graduate from UW-Madison. “Once A Badger Always A Badger”.

Throughout his years at the University of Wisconsin – Madison, Komlan’s love for music helped him start a business in event planning. He started hosting social events at several venues in Madison including Orpheum theatre, Segredo Night Club, Vintage Spirit Bar, Churchkey Bar, State Bar and many others. After successfully hosting various social events Komlan was offered the opportunity to plan and DJ a wedding. He loved every minute of the wedding planning and DJ’ing. It has been 10 years and counting and that love keeps growing year after year.

Komlan resides in the heart of downtown Madison – his hometown for the past 15 years. When he is not planning fabulous events or weddings around the city you can find him practicing his culinary talents, training for “Crazylegs classic run”, spending time with friends at the terrace, volunteering, or spending time with family – especially his nephew Oen. He has an older brother and sister, and a younger sister. His goals are to get married and to start a family in the next three years. Komlan speaks, writes, and reads French fluently. On his free time he loves to play football (soccer) and travel around the world. He was in Brazil last summer for the 2014 Men’s World Cup. His love for traveling holds dear to him and France, Romania, Spain, Ibiza, Netherlands, Brazil, Mexico are few of the places he has traveled to overseas. Here in the US he has traveled to Los Angeles, San Diego, New York City, Minneapolis, Dallas, Houston, Tampa, Clearwater, Scottsdale, Anne Arbor, Chicago, and hoping to do more during the slow wedding season in the winter.

Komlan has successfully executed hundreds of events in the wedding business. He has strong communication skills geared to both internal leadership and providing outstanding customer service. He is an excellent multi-tasker and is very organized. Not only is Komlan detail oriented, but he is also passionate about customer service, wedding planning, and building relationships. Komlan is a valuable team leader and works hard to ensure wonderful and stress-free events.

As a DJ, music has always played a significant role in every aspect of his life. This is how his love for music started. When Komlan was young his older brother would always teach him all the cool dances and play all the new hits for him. Komlan grew up playing drums, performing in his high school theatre program, and watching his older brother play guitar and perform for an audience. Komlan loves spending hours looking for new songs and music that has a particular beat to get a dance floor packed. His favorite DJ is Avicii. He actually had the chance to meet him in person…what an unbelievable moment it was for him. His favorite song of all time is “Get Down On It” by Kool & The Gang.

Komlan is a very friendly, outgoing, fun, an open-minded individual to be around. He always brings the energy whenever needed and his positive attitude and professionalism speak louder. He believes his smile is an effective icebreaker when meeting new people and making new friends. Komlan is great at picking the right songs for any type of event, and reads the crowd well to know what to play to get everyone on the dance floor song after song.

His favorite events are weddings and bridal shows. During the summer he loves concerts at the terrace, concerts on the square, on king street, and all around Madison. His one wish would be “World Peace”.

Ethan Fassbender is a marketing and management graduate from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Before graduating from UW-Madison, Ethan worked for 7 years as a training manager on 5th Avenue in New York City for high-end retailers Liz Claiborne and Kenneth Cole. Ethan was awarded the top selling sales manager worldwide for both organizations. Unfortunately, a car accident involving his father brought Ethan back to the Midwest. During this time, Ethan decided to pursue a higher education. He enrolled at the UW-Business School and refined his skills as a world-class marketer. Today Ethan provides his big city aesthetic and Midwest values to all projects C’Est La Vie Events is invested in. He has been working tirelessly to make C’Est La Vie Events a top tier full wedding service business. Ethan’s job as marketing director of C’Est La Vie Events has been critical to the organization’s success. He has created and developed programs that allow C’Est La Vie Events to run smoothly and efficiently. Ethan is a big believer in the power of customer service. In fact, this belief forms the very foundation for C’Est La Vie. Ethan works tirelessly to make sure that every event C’Est La Vie is responsible for incorporates the client’s needs first and foremost.

Why do you DJ? :
Alexander loves mixing songs and playing for a crowd of people whether at a special event or for friends. Making people get on the floor and keeping the dance floor full is Alexander strong skill.

Background:
Alexander grew up watching his older brothers play songs of all genres, and going to a lot of music concerts. Alexander graduated from Edgewood College with a degree in Marketing.

Strengths:
Professionalism, timeliness, communication, and preparedness are Alexander’s strong suits. Alexander’s ability to read the crowd and adjust the music is what makes him a great DJ.

Alexander would love to live in Brazil for couple years.

Alexander has been DJn since he started attending Edgewood College in 2011. He joined C’Est La Vie’s team in 2014 and has been doing a great job since then.

Free Time:
In his free time, Alexander loves to play soccer and watch Europe Soccer Championship games.

Goals:
To plan a trip to Ireland and Brazil.

Travel:
Alexander loves Europe and hopes to travel more there.

Why do you DJ? :
Eric loves the beat of the music and music is a huge part of his life. He was a band member in middle school and high school. His interest to become a DJ started after watching Tiesto perform in Chicago during a summer concert.

Background:
Eric grew up in Madison and went to Memorial high school. He is attending MATC pursuing a degree in criminal justice. Eric hopes to find a job with the Wisconsin Department of Corrections or the Madison Police Department.

Strengths:
Eric loves meeting new people and making new friends. He believes hard work is the key to success in everything he does. Eric loves music of all genres which helps him be a great wedding DJ.

Favorite event:
Eric loves weddings but his favorite event is Badger Tailgate. He loves being the wedding Photo Booth specialist.

World peace and the idea of a unified world on all aspects of life.

Eric started practicing the art of DJn in 2011. He also DJ at birthday parties and performs once a month at Churchkey Bar downtown Madison. Eric joined C’Est La Vie’s team in 2013.

Free Time:
Eric loves the outdoors. He is also a power lifter, likes going to the gym, and enjoys sushi.

Goals:
Eric wants to compete in a powerlifting competition and to become a Madison Police Officer.

Travel:
Eric loves going on road trips with friends and hopes to visit Paris, France one day.

Would have to be the owner Komlan. Love the way he spins and gets people on the dance floor.

Why do you DJ? :
Manu is the type of guy who likes to see people have fun on the dance floor. Being a DJ is a passion of his because it’s a great way to interact with people, whether it’s celebrating a special occasion or just a regular night out with friends.

Background:
Manu grew up couple places before settling in Madison. He spent the first five years of his life in his hometown of Cali, Colombia. Manu also lived in Orlando, Florida for a short time before moving to Madison.

Strengths:
Manu’s biggest strength is being able to work with people. That might sound cliché, but developing a good working relationship with people involves listening as much as giving inputs. He is very outgoing and fun to be around with.

Favorite event:
Manu’s favorite events are the summer concerts at the terrace, the Monday movie nights and Thursday open mic.

One wish:
Manu would love to see his parents enjoy the rest of their lives without having to work.

Manu has an older brother, a niece, and a nephew.

Manu started DJn when he was attending Edgewood College and he joined C’Est La Vie’s team in 2013. He loves doing weddings and playing music at bars in downtown Madison.

Manu’s free time revolves around football (soccer), music, traveling, and the occasional ice cold brew at the union terrace.

Goals:
To be able to support his parents, travel all around the world, be happy, and enjoy life to the fullest.

Travel:
Manu’s goal is to travel to all the US states. He hopes to travel through Europe next.

His biggest influence would be God, without Him Manu would not be where he is today.

El Preso, a salsa song that his grandma always over played, but the memory of her playing and dancing never gets old.

Othniel has been fascinated with music all his life. Othniel enjoys the art of beat matching and loves nothing more than making people dance and enjoy themselves.

Background:
Othniel grew up playing drums and bass guitar. He finds science interesting; matter of fact, Othniel is a senior Biochemistry major at Edgewood College. He is thinking about either going into sports medicine or pharmacy.

Strengths:
Othniel is a very outgoing and friendly person. When he plays music at an event, he is great at reading the crowd and plays the music that people will enjoy. Othniel speaks, writes, and reads French fluently.

Favorite event:
Weddings are Othniel’s favorite events to DJ. Spring Awakening is his favorite event to attend.

Othniel started playing music at parties his senior year in high school, and got his first DJ controller his freshmen year in college. He has been DJn for about 5 years.

Get into medical school or pharmacy school.

Othniel loves to travel and hopes to further explore Europe.
